Portland-based eyewear brand Shwood has been pushing the limits of what eyewear can do since 2009! When 5 friends on a snowboarding tour began whittling glasses out of wood! Since then, they've introduced 15 new natural materials in the eyewear industry: like wood, stone, seashells, flowers, and herbs. Over Shwood's lifetime, they've managed to maintain a constant curiosity about what eyewear can be, but that doesn’t come at the cost of durability. They've increased the strength of our wooden frames by 33% by including carbon fiber laminate in their construction. No detail is overlooked, only the finest German spring and barrel hinges are used to increase durability and comfort. High-quality Italian acetate is used to make adjustments a breeze whilst maintaining its shape over time.
